Case Study:
Brain/Alzheimer's Disease

Patient History: a 55-year-old female with a history of decline in mental status. Evaluate for frontotemporal dementia vs. Alzheimer's Disease.
PET Findings: the distribution of FDG within the brain reveals significant hypometabolism in the parietal and temporal regions bilaterally. In addition, frontal metabolism is significantly reduced. FDG uptake is best preserved in the sensory-motor region. This pattern is most consistent with Alzheimer's Disease of relatively significant severity.
